If you were obliged to land at an unfamiliar alternate aerodrome, you would need to thoroughly review the airfield’s approach plates and operational data beforehand. In addition to that, you’d have to communicate clearly with local air traffic control to ensure you understood any specific procedures. By doing so, and by staying situationally aware, you could conduct a safe and controlled landing even at a less familiar field.
