Volcanic eruptions represent a significant hazard for civil aviation and air transport. It is needed to understand problems associated with volcanic ash such as engine damage, visibility, sunlight blockage, and dispersion and deposition of ash. The volcanic ash will adhere to engine surfaces and lead to the build-up of a significant deposit, which is the main cause of the engine shutdown. In my opinion, pilots must avoid the volcanic activity area to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Being sucked into the engine, volcanic ashes may produce the aggravating deposits on the surfaces of the blades and other parts of the engine core. This may cause a significant decrease in engine power or engine surge or stall. Other hand the solid particles impacting the windshields and other surfaces of an aircraft scratch them. Therefore should a pilot receive a volcanic ash alert, they will be obliged to plan the avoiding route.
