In other words, a microburst is a very localized and powerful downdraft that spreads out when it hits the ground, creating sudden and dangerous changes in wind direction and speed. On the other hand, wind shear is a broader term that refers to any sudden change in wind velocity or direction, whether horizontal or vertical. Essentially, while all microbursts cause wind shear, not all wind shear involves a microburst.
